Despite these scandals the “Celebgate hack” appears to have been a much simpler prank. Some of the photos were stolen from Apple’s iCloud account, and a forum user on 4chan claimed that the photos were stolen through a clever exploitation of a security flaw. The FBI confirmed the iCloud breach and is investigating the case. It is important to note that celebrity photo leaks and legitimate hacking are not the same thing.
