Dan Biehl

Dan was an optics and outdoor gear specialist at Scheels Sporting Goods in Great Falls who truly enjoyed helping people, particularly with hunting, sports, or issues they faced as families.

At Montana State University Billings he earned both a B.S. in Health & Human Performance as well as a Master of Science in Sports, Fitness & Recreational Management degrees. Additionally he serves as track and field coach at Billings West High School.

Early Life and Education

Dan was raised in Red Lodge, Montana where he found joy in exploring nature. He participated in Boy Scouts and Little Guy Wrestling before his family relocated to Great Falls where he attended East Middle School and Great Falls High School where he was actively engaged in bands, choirs, German clubs, football, wrestling and wrestling teams.

After graduating college, he served in the military as a medical specialist before going on to complete general pediatrics training at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune and neonatal-perinatal fellowship training at University of Louisville.

Tom and Valerie have six children together: Nathaniel James, Rebekah Ann, Daniel Harvey, Johanna Marie, Caleb Joshua and Abigail Elizabeth. This family has strong ties to Sunnyside Grace Brethren Church’s ministries as well as homeschooling their children since 1987.

Professional Career

He is a professional artist working across multiple mediums. His artwork often explores particular processes or media used, often informed by experience, research, news and visual stimuli.

Dan Biehl graduated with two degrees from Montana State University Billings: Bachelor of Science in Health & Human Performance and Master of Science in Sports, Fitness & Recreation Management. Currently he serves as pole vault coach at Montana Class AA power Billings West High School as well as MSU-Billings.

Dan was raised in Great Falls, Montana where he was very involved with music, sports, and the outdoors. He hunted big game and fished for both ice and fly fishing; additionally he enjoyed working at Scheels Sporting Goods to help solve customers’ problems and meet their needs.

Achievement and Honors

He took part in band, choir, German club, football and wrestling during high school. Additionally he served as pole vault coach. Furthermore, he is certified strength and conditioning specialist as well as U.S. pole vault safety coach.

Biehl was honored with several awards and distinctions during his distinguished military service, including receiving both the Silver Star medal and Purple Heart from President Clinton as well as being presented a trophy by 94th Army Air and Defense Artillery Brigade commander.

He is an active community volunteer and member of Bow Memorial School Board. In particular, he acts as mentor for new transfer students joining UM School of Business; this program assists in their integration into university culture while aiding academic success. Other community service projects include conducting physics and chemistry experiments at Orlando Science Center as well as serving as reptile handler.

Personal Life

He truly enjoyed helping people, particularly with hunting, sports and family issues they were facing. Montana was home to some fantastic outdoor experiences he relished including big game hunting for big game as well as bird hunting, as well as ice and fly fishing.

He was also a track and field coach at Billings West High school and MSU-Billings, certified as both a strength and conditioning specialist as well as U.S. pole vault safety certified coach.

Dan was a dedicated father to four wonderful children and loving grandad to five spectacular grandkids, whom will all miss him deeply. Memorial donations may be made in his name directly to Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home for arrangements; visitation will take place Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. before concluding with a time of remembrance and goodbyes.

Dan was an admirable family man who worked tirelessly for what he had. He adored his five incredible grandkids and always kept everyone laughing with his great sense of humor and amusing banter.

Biehl LLC, also known as Dun Rite Asphalt Sealing, is located in Marinette, Wisconsin and operates as Dun Rite Asphalt Sealing. They primarily focus on Parking Lot Construction services with currently 10 employees on staff.

Prior to joining Natixis, Dan worked at Schwab as manager of their Managed Account Research Center and provided asset allocation recommendations for participants at mPower, an online 401(k) advisory service. In addition, he served on their investment committee for their managed account select investment program.
