Before joining SMSU, he served as passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Garden City Community College in Kansas, helping their team win an NJCAA national championship and coaching several All-American and All-Conference players.

Achievement and Honors

McKinney also devotes significant energy and resources to community service efforts, supporting organizations like War Child, GEM’s and Red Hot Organization – which works towards HIV/AIDS awareness – as well as volunteering at his local food bank.

McKinney has collaborated with an array of musicians, such as Sting, Drake and Kelis. Additionally, he has worked with hip-hop artists Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Raphael Saadiq.

Dan Howard McKinney passed away peacefully at 72 on May 14th 2017. He leaves behind many loving family members and friends to mourn his passing; these include Linda Cladis and Nick, his nephew Dusty with wife Pegi and son Shepard as well as many loyal and loving ones. Dan Howard McKinney will be deeply missed but all who knew him well will remember his good heart and generous nature fondly.

Personal Life

Daniel McKinney focuses her practice around portraiture, color and composition informed by an expansive dialogue with art history. Her paintings evoke Hopper’s unsettling voyeurism while Vermeer’s brilliant light-and-shadows painting can also be found here.

She currently resides in Colorado Springs with her husband and two children, being actively engaged with their academic development as well as singing with the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale. Being well aware of local community needs and providing solutions during times of hardship is at the forefront of her mind.

McKinney earned her law degree from the University of Nebraska. Additionally, she holds memberships with both the American Bar Association and Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce, serving on its boards respectively as well as being appointed as board member to Colorado Springs Housing Authority.
