After shooting his gun, he drove back to Fairbanks and shot off rounds at South Cushman Gun Range before selling his jacket, which still contained spent shell casings from the killing, to a couple who were shopping at Costco.
According to a criminal complaint, he informed police that he had murdered two men at a rehab facility as they attempted to steal prescription medications and cigarettes from him. To cover up his crime he developed an elaborate scheme, including cleaning and selling his murder weapon.

The complaint alleges that shortly after AST was informed of Serkov’s deaths, he appeared at a local police station claiming he had shot a dog in Delta; upon further interrogation by investigators they determined he had murdered both victims in a double homicide.
