Early Life and Education
Early childhood is a critical period in a child’s development, as their brains grow at an astonishingly rapid rate. These form the basis for social skills, self-worth and an overall world view that will last throughout adulthood.
Education of children during this stage is especially important, with studies showing that the earlier they experience positive learning experiences, the better. Jean Rousseau is widely credited as having pioneered early childhood education and many of his principles still find application in classrooms today.
Early Childhood Education (ECE) is a field of study that studies children from birth to age eight. As such, it has become an intensely-debated public policy issue. Its objectives include fostering healthy development and improving health outcomes; additionally, ECE seeks to enhance educational and employment prospects for both kids and their families.
