Early Life and Education
David Billings, the son of a white Christian missionary couple, had to fight hard against his early experiences growing up in a racist environment. He suffered the death of his twin sister at an early age and was disciplined for his rebellious behavior.
He had to draw inspiration from his family’s example of decency and compassion to succeed in life. Now, 50 years later, he has found fulfillment as an organizer of anti-racist workshops.
On his frequent trips to New York City and beyond, the East Coast native began collecting rare books and artifacts. With time, his collection evolved into an impressively diverse one, featuring a significant amount of Asian art that is now on display at the Whaling Museum on Nantucket.

David Billings has extensive professional experience, having held various leadership roles within the business world. Currently, he serves as President & CEO for GVP Global Corp.
Billings has earned notoriety for his inventions and designs, which have earned him 11 United States Patents as well as one International patent. Additionally, he currently has several additional patents pending.
He is an OB/GYN physician who serves patients throughout North Dakota. Board certified since 1992, he completed his residency training at Michigan State University/Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
He loves to travel and spend time with his family. His interests also extend to history and learning about different cultures. When not traveling, he enjoys hiking in the mountains, camping and backpacking – he’s been abroad twice!

David Billings exemplifies a lifelong dedication to the community of Cedar Hill. As an active participant in both the Economic Development Corporation and Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce, David has made numerous contributions that have improved residents’ quality of life within the City.
He has been instrumental in the growth of Cedar Hill by bringing 14 new businesses and 265 jobs to the region. Additionally, his efforts at the Chamber of Commerce have furthered Cedar Hill’s image as a premier community.
As a result, he was named 2011 Cedar Hill Chamber Man of the Year and presented with the Distinctive Character Lifetime Achievement Award.
Personal Life
David billings was a devoted husband and father. A member of the First United Methodist Church in Burlington, Vermont, he loved spending time with his children as well as fishing, playing baseball and listening to music.
He had a wonderful sense of humor that made him an excellent friend to everyone. He will be greatly missed.
He had a deep faith in God and enjoyed helping people. He was particularly proud of his work at Our Place, a local food shelf and drop-in center.
