Thomas Woltz, the principal designer at Thomas Woltz Landscape Architecture & Park Design Studio in Rochester, believes that park designs should take into account regional ecology and geology while taking into account how human activities have altered a site over time.

Early Life and Education

David Woltz is an accomplished marketing professional with experience across 5 industries, boasting an enviable record of success in each. His international expertise gives him a rare view into multicultural business models, management styles and local practices in different markets worldwide.

He has proven his capabilities as an adept sales executive, P+L expert and brand strategist by overseeing multiple global brands with his experience turning around businesses.

Born January 29th 1933 in Greensboro North Carolina to Virginia Van Dalsem and John Montgomery Woltz. He graduated with both an undergraduate degree in economics and political science from UNC and an MBA/MIBS from South Carolina respectively, becoming a member of First Presbyterian Church Greensboro as well as membership. Barbara Brown Woltz survives him with their three children Nikolas, Elizabeth, and Henry.

Professional Career

As an urban designer, David’s work centers around creating spaces and forms that equitably improve human life in preexisting environments. His projects often demonstrate his conviction that designers must consider climate change when designing environments for humans to live.

David leverages his 16+ years of experience to be one of the founding principals and creative directors at OSD Outside design firm. With an emphasis on public space and streetscape designs that enhance their surrounding environments, recent examples include designing a 6-acre on-structure plaza at Hudson Yards; award-winning Naval Cemetery Landscape at Brooklyn Navy Yard; multiple greenroofs at 900 N Michigan Avenue Chicago; as well as multiple greenroofs throughout his work at OSD Outside.

David earned both his undergraduate degree in economics and political science from the University of North Carolina and graduate degree in international business administration from University of South Carolina. Additionally, he completed executive education programs at Washington University in St. Louis, Northwestern University and Wharton School of Business.

Achievement and Honors

David Woltz was an outstanding member of the real estate industry, holding the coveted position as Managing Partner and Director at Martin & Woltz LLC. Additionally, David was known for being an outstanding gentleman, philanthropist, and passionate cyclist.

As evidence of his dedication, David won two prestigious awards from the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce: best auctioneer in Virginia and Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) Aficionado. Not only was David an incredible salesman but he was also an invaluable entrepreneur – an asset not only to clients and staff but also his community at large. Personal Life

David Woltz had an emotionally complicated personal life. He was the father of Nikolas, born and raised in Mexico until 2008.

In 2008, Woltz and Aguilar reached an agreement whereby Nikolas would live with them in Appleton for an entire school year in order to learn English. Although they disagreed over its duration, both parties ultimately felt it would be in Nikolas’ best interests to live there for as long as necessary.

Nikolas made an immediate impact during his stay in Appleton, participating in various sports and engaging fully with new friends. Furthermore, he developed strong ties to both his father and wife – eventually speaking English fluently for himself! By the time of his custody hearing in 2009, he had left a lasting impression with both.

Net Worth

David Woltz is an experienced business development and management professional with an impressive record in product management, marketing and innovation for Fortune 200 sales-oriented organizations, such as Frito-Lay, Kimberly Clark and Energizer. A hands-on leader, David has excellent analytical, critical thinking and strategic planning abilities which allow him to implement solutions efficiently.

David founded Succession Equity, a small business advisory and investment company. He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from University of North Carolina as well as master’s degrees in international business administration from both University of South Carolina and Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) respectively. Additionally he completed executive education classes offered at Washington University of St Louis (Wharton School). Lastly he currently resided in Charlottesville Virginia until succumbing to lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma on June 21, 2021.
