Personal Life
George Heriot, a Scottish goldsmith, earned the trust and loyalty of King James the 6th by being granted an apartment at Holyrood Palace. Although he left no surviving legitimate children, George left behind a substantial sum to fund hospitals and schools for poor, illegitimate or fatherless ‘bairns’.
He was so successful at his job that the Londoners began calling him ‘Jingling Geordie’. With deep pockets, he distributed land, honors, and jobs with wisdom and care.
He currently teaches at Berklee College of Music in Boston and gives masterclasses around the world. Additionally, he provides accompaniment for musicians on various projects, known for his ability to bring out the best in their performances.
