I 485 New Card Is Being Produced

How to Know If Your I-485 New Card is Being Produced

When you receive an email stating that your I-485 new card is being produced, this is a positive sign that your application is in process. You can then go to your nearest USCIS office to complete the process. While you are there, be sure to bring a copy of your passport or other valid identification. You may also be asked to provide your biometrics during the interview. Make sure to bring your passport, i-90 application form, or i-551 Infopass appointment notice. You can expect to pay between $445 USD and $85 USD for the biometric process.

If your i 485 new card is being produced, you can expect to receive it in five to ten days. However, if you need your EAD card in less time, you can apply for an H4-EAD instead. This type of EAD is not required to have biometrics. After your EAD application has been approved, you should wait at least six weeks for the new card to arrive in the mail. If you don’t receive it within this time, you should check with your SSN office and request another one.

Once your I-485 adjustment application is approved, you may be granted an Employment Authorization Document (EAD). The EAD allows you to work for any employer in the US. You can also keep your existing nonimmigrant status and continue working. However, you may not be eligible for Advance Parole. It is important to note that this card will not give you a green card if your original immigration status does not change.
