Jack Boyer currently holds the positions of non-executive director and remuneration committee chair of Mitie plc and TT Electronics as well as membership of Academies Enterprise Trust Council; previously he held this role while also serving as an entrepreneur and CEO in engineering sector companies.

Jack Boyer is a fourth-generation Iowa farmer dedicated to soil health practices on his family’s farm in rural Iowa. Through on-farm research and insights gained through sustainability practices, Jack has gained invaluable insights that improve both his finances and land.

Early Life and Education

Jack Boyer was raised in Orogrande and attended Lapwai Elementary. His strong work ethic would not allow anyone to waste their time; in addition, he taught his children the value of honesty and ethics as well as emphasizing education as essential components of success.

He received an OBE in 2015 for services to science and engineering. Since 2015 he has served on various non-executive boards of educational institutions as a non-executive board member, such as Mitie Group plc (now part of Laird plc) and Ilika plc (AIM-listed), chairing each for periods. Furthermore he served on the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council council membership committee and as trustee at independent schools like Godolphin and Latymer schools.

He is currently a trustee for both the University of Bristol and Sir Henry Royce Institute as well as being a non-executive director for both TT Electronics plc and Ricardo plc. Furthermore, he founded and serves as chairman for Academies Enterprise Trust – one of the UK’s largest multi-academy trusts.

Professional Career

Jack Boyer is a retired professional cyclist who competed in the 1985 Race Across America and several mountain bike events, winning several of them. Now retired from cycling competition he serves on both TT Electronics plc’s Remuneration and Nomination committees as well as Mitie plc and Laird plc’s AIM listings where he serves on their respective Remuneration committees as non-executive director.

Boyer earned his Bachelor of Accounting from Penn State University with honors just in time to see Solomon Software release their ERP software. Soon after he joined them and quickly rose through their ranks as regional manager – traveling around teaching partners how to use the new system.

Er met Georgie at Harvard where she was studying medicine. They married that year and settled in Cleveland, Ohio together; though both Boyers have prior relationships.

Achievement and Honors

eyer was an influential member of Santa Clarita, playing an instrumental role in its bid for cityhood and serving on the original board of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. Additionally, he worked tirelessly to make Santa Clarita an inviting environment that welcomed all generations – both past and future residents alike.

The University of Arizona College of Medicine honored him by featuring him in an online story that highlighted key moments from his career and life. He joined their faculty in 1968, helping launch three divisions within their Department of Medicine – Geriatrics, Hematology and Rheumatology, which now have key centers of excellence associated with them.

He held non-executive chairman positions with TT Electronics plc and Ilika plc, Laird plc’s Remuneration Committee Chairship, Ricardo, Laird plc and Laird’s Remuneration Committee respectively as well as serving on their Council Member list and an Advisory Board Member for Academies Enterprise Trust.

Personal Life

Jack Boyer has served as Chairman for 9 different companies. Currently he sits as non-executive director at Mitie plc and TT Electronics plc as well as member of their Remuneration Committees; additionally he chairs Academies Enterprise Trust. Prior to that Jack has had extensive entrepreneurial and CEO experience within engineering and telecom sectors.

He serves on the Council for Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council as well as Chair-Advanced Materials Leadership of the Department for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy.

He enjoyed fly fishing on Eagle River nearby. Additionally, he took great pleasure in training retrievers and field trial dogs, some of which have gone on to become national field trial champions under his tutelage.
