Jack Carberry

Jack Carberry was born and has lived his whole life in Munising, Michigan. He is currently an active member of Sion Luther Church in Chatham as well as Munising American Legion Post 131 and Munising Rotary Club; as well as past master of Munising Masonic Lodge.

Early Life and Education

John Carberry was one of the early settlers of Peel County and proved an ideal representative of its early inhabitants. Not only was he physically strong, but his mind and outlook were equally keen. Carberry is survived by 26 nieces and nephews and three grandchildren. On Jan. 25, there was a visitation and prayer service held at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception followed by a concelebrated funeral Mass before burial at Calvary Cemetery.

He belonged to both the Knights of Columbus and Ancient Order of Hibernians, as well as serving in the Rhode Island National Guard.

Professional Career

Carberry worked at various companies during his professional life and was an expert pension planner, while being an avid sports fan and member of Knights of Columbus.

He joined Action for Children as a project leader in 1994 and rose through the ranks to become chief executive last year. When applying to join AfC, his background was well known and all involved had full knowledge of it.

His lung illness forced him out of England Performance Program over the winter, but he returned in 2011 by scoring 523 against Yorkshire and being retained for their tour to Australia despite underperforming significantly during a poor series. However, this ultimately saw him dropped back down in priority when England decided not to send their bowlers with 523s on average in their innings against South Australia and Tasmania.

Achievement and Honors

Carberry excelled as both an indoor and outdoor field hockey player at UVM. She earned a spot on both the All-New England team as well as national USFHA squad. Furthermore, Carberry won UVM’s Wasson Athletic Prize, awarded annually to the top female athlete.

Jack Carberry was an outstanding husband and loving father. He leaves behind his beloved wife Norma of Westerly, Rhode Island; sons Sean and Terrance Carberry along with their wives Kate and Jennifer as well as grandchild Jennifer Nicole Daniel Sara Shane Max; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Castle Freke in West Cork was home to an extreme psychopath who was violent toward not only his daughter Juanita but anyone vulnerable. Even animals were vulnerable.

He served on both the Phillipsburg Library Board and Easton-Phillipsburg Football Game Committee for many years, where he excelled as an avid reader renowned for his knowledge of sports history. A talented golfer himself, he will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends.

Carberry attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a delegate and was an enthusiastic supporter of both civil rights activism and ecumenical efforts.
