Jack Sock was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Pam and Larry Sock; his father Larry Sock is a wealth manager and avid golfer. Jack moved with his family to Kansas when he was 12 years old where they trained at Mike Wolf Tennis Academy.

Jack earned four state singles championship titles while competing at college tennis for Nebraska University, before transitioning into playing tour-level doubles and singles competition.

Jack Sock began playing tennis at age 8 and turned professional in 2011.
