Joerod Adams, 19, Was Shot and Killed After a Florida Football Game
Last Friday evening at an Orlando high school football game, one Florida teen was shot and killed while two others were wounded. Police believe Joerod Jamel Adams, 19, died as the result of a gang-related incident.
At a vigil on Saturday, his grandfather Leroy Murphy spoke out, asserting that his grandson wasn’t involved with any gang and police should have protected him outside Raines High School gates.
Early Life and Education
Dozens of family and friends of 19-year-old Joerod Adams gathered with candles, balloons and a framed photo outside Raines High School Saturday evening to remember him. Leroy Murphy stated his grandson wasn’t part of any gangs and believed police should have protected him at the football game where he died Friday night.
John was a slow learner, but he developed his love of books through tutoring from Harvard graduate John Wesley Smith (his teacher). John became fluent in Latin thanks to him; in addition, he read voraciously; often citing classic literature in his letters to Abigail.
During the Revolutionary War, he served in Congress and traveled on diplomatic missions to France and Holland. He participated in negotiating the peace treaty between Britain and America before remaining there until 1788.
Professional Career
George Adams amasses an estimated net worth between $1 and $5 Million thanks to his long and successful NFL career and brand endorsements, most notably playing for both the New York Giants and New England Patriots for seven years each.
He currently practices dentistry in Chattanooga, Tennessee where he is working toward his MAGD (Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry). His focus lies in general dental care while staying up-to-date on current technology and techniques by attending hundreds of hours in continuing education courses each year across the nation.
At Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel P.C. in Chattanooga, he assists clients with private equity transactions, growth equity financings and general corporate law matters. Prior to that role, he served as an associate with Woods Roger PLC of Roanoke Virginia.
Personal Life
Jameelah Murphy is shocked by a video posted to social media showing a 19-year-old former Raines High School student being shot and killed after an after a football game in Jacksonville two years ago. Someone posted the clip that appears to show an individual defacing her son’s gravestone by urinating on it and kicking decorations from it.
Authorities believe 16-year-old Robert Howard shot and killed Joerod Adams after an altercation erupted between him and one of Adams’ 17-year-old friends during a football game, when fight broke out between the two in the stands. It is suspected that both victims are associated with criminal street gangs according to Sheriff Mike Williams.
Leroy Murphy, Joerod’s grandfather, spoke at a vigil Saturday night outside Raines High School gates and stated his grandson wasn’t part of any gang but that this shooting may have been related. Leroy stated police should provide security outside of Raines Stadium as an intervention measure.
