John Benda is an accomplished professional golfer on the European Senior Tour, born July 9, 1947 in Sheridan, USA.

He is a retired American Navy officer currently working for ASI, which is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software company.

Early Life and Education

John Benda was born in Boston and raised in Dedham, Massachusetts. He attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship, earning a degree in mechanical engineering.

After graduating college, he joined the United States Navy as a communications officer and was stationed with Amphibious Squadron 7 in San Diego.

He went on to earn a Master’s degree in leadership from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island and then began teaching at their surface warfare officer school.

He enjoys playing golf in his free time and has competed on the European Seniors Tour. His best round was a nine-under par 63 during round two of the Sharp Italian Seniors Open.

He imparted his expertise on golf to many, coaching it at Dedham High School in Massachusetts and the University of Iowa. A member of both the United States Golf Association and International Federation of PGA Tours, his passion was spreading the game around.

He served in the Navy as a communications officer aboard the USS Ashlandem in Iraq, followed by work as an assistant operations planner for Amphibious Squadron 7 in San Diego, California.

By the age of 38, Benda had achieved great success as a state bureaucrat and eventually the head of South Dakota’s economic development agency. He traveled the country promoting the state to foreign investors while serving as spokesperson for EB-5 – the federal economic development program.

His personal life was filled with turmoil, and he earned a reputation for jealousy. An ex-girlfriend filed for a restraining order against him, and he later began an intimate relationship with Kenna Bridwell.

He was under investigation for financial irregularities at a failed beef packing plant in Aberdeen and for his role in bringing a company to the state that failed. Additionally, the Rounds administration and company that he brought into the state were being closely scrutinized.

Net Worth

If you’ve ever seen Benda in action, then you know his passion for his business. He owns Fuel City in Dallas, Texas – a tourist-stop gas station where he has made millions from it.

Despite his success, Benda prefers to keep his personal life private. He has never married or tied the knot and does not have children.

However, he and Brenda Wehle have been an item since 1997 – after first meeting in the early 1990s.
