Early Life and Education
Early childhood education is an important part of a child’s development. It is during these years that children learn essential emotional skills like self-confidence, self-regulation, self-expression and positive self-belief.
In addition to developing these skills, they also learn about the world around them and how to interact with others. This is critical to their future success in school and life.
The development of these skills is why education experts consider the early childhood years to be the most crucial period in a child’s life. They believe that failure to provide quality education during these years limits a child’s opportunities and robs them of the human capital they need to succeed as adults.
When it comes to booze and drink-related shenanigans, John has had his fair share of high-profile moments. He has also garnered a number of accolades for his contributions to the field, including the aforementioned most notable alcoholic beverage award.
For a while, he and his wife Carol (BS, ’60, science and letters) travelled the world as research scientists and lab technicians for NASA. The best part was that they were often rewarded with free drinks. For instance, there was one occasion where they were treated to a special cocktail called the astronauts’ concoction. They were also known for their philanthropy, which included a generous donation to their alma mater in honor of John’s tenure as a professor of physiology. It was an incredible experience.
