John Deters is the Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer for Cboe Global Markets. In this role, he leads corporate strategy and strategic partnerships, investments and acquisitions, product research and proprietary product development.

Early Life and Education
John Deters grew up in a typical Zeeland family, attending school and attending services at the Third Christian Reformed Church. He loved sports and was involved in his local community through his involvement with the Holland Township board and the Holland Township Fire Department.
He also had a love of photography and enjoyed sharing his passion with friends. He was not afraid to step up when he saw a need for someone else in the community.
In his professional life, he held senior level positions at Barclays and Lehman Brothers in the M&A and Investment Banking practices, where he was responsible for developing multi-business-line strategic analyses and execution of a variety of financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, capital market infrastructure, and other corporate financing transactions. He was also a founding partner of the firm Deters Group, LLC, where he developed a wide range of strategic business plans and led execution teams in multiple transactions.
Deters, an attorney and former prosecutor, has a successful practice in Ohio. He has been named a Rising Star in his field and is recognized for his professional accomplishments.
He has been a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association since 2015. He is licensed to practice law in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Kentucky.
After serving as a Hamilton County prosecutor, Deters was appointed to the Ohio Supreme Court in 2017. He has experience with high-profile criminal and civil cases.

He took on the case of former University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing, who in 2015 killed Black motorist Samuel DuBose during a traffic stop. That prosecution angered the Queen City Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police and resulted in two mistrials.
