Early Life and Education
john doria was born and raised in New Rochelle, NY where he attended public school and graduated from high school. He and his wife Josephine moved to Congers in 1970.
Doria has had a long and distinguished career in education, serving at the local, state and national levels. He has received many honors and awards throughout his career.
His best known achievement is his 28-year track coaching stint at Spaulding High School, where he earned the honor of the top-rated coach in the area. Doria joined the DuPage County sheriff’s office in 1962, working as a patrol officer and detective. He later served as a deputy sheriff and juvenile officer.
During his time as sheriff, Doria worked to improve the police department and modernize it. He also was involved in the construction of a new courthouse and jail.
After retiring from the sheriff’s office, Doria devoted his professional life to education. He taught at the high school, college and graduate levels.
He received a bachelor’s degree in history from Saint Peter’s University and a master’s in American studies from Boston College. He also earned a doctorate in organizational leadership and educational administration from Columbia University’s Teachers College. He is also a member of the National Sheriffs Association and the Illinois State Law Enforcement Association.

John Doria is a successful businessman. He owns and operates I&D Auto Body in Pleasantville, NY for over 30 years.
He has three children and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife, Josephine, and numerous nieces and nephews.
