The stories cover a wide range of subjects, such as a mysterious volume of short stories by French author Guy de Maupassant, an elderly nursing home resident who needs help remembering her past, an overworked boiler in an aging convention hotel and the fast-moving cancer death of a loved one.

A plea agreement has been reached on animal cruelty charges against Koski in Ontonagon County District Court, a court official confirmed. The deal was agreed to on an off-the-record pretrial conference last week.
