John Rocovich, JD, LLM, Alumnus of Virginia Tech
John Rocovich, a Virginia Tech graduate and long-standing supporter of the university, has been an ardent champion ever since. He served 12 years on the Board of Visitors – two as rector – and received their Alumni Distinguished Service Award in recognition for his services.
His contributions extend beyond Virginia Tech to other educational institutions and civic organizations. For instance, he helped found the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg.

John Rocovich is an accomplished professional who has chosen to call Virginia Tech his home. A lawyer by profession, he enjoys sports immensely. Additionally, John has a philanthropic heart; donating funds to organizations that enhance lives both here in our state and beyond.
Rocovich has had a major impact on education, leading Virginia Tech’s Commission for the Sciences to new heights and being proud to be part of this institution’s illustrious history. He previously served on the board of visitors for two terms and served as rector for several years; now his newest role is co-chair of CSTT (College of Science and Technology), one of the university’s largest academic divisions with over 7,000 students enrolled including 4,300 undergraduates, 1,400 graduate/postdoctoral fellows, plus 200 faculty/staff members/administrative support personnel.

Rocovich has dedicated his life to supporting Virginia Tech, making the university the center of his life. The colleges of Engineering, Business, Natural Resources, Arts & Sciences have all reaped the rewards of his generosity.
Rocovich has made a major impact on the growth and success of numerous civic organizations and charitable causes. For his efforts, he was honored with the Emerald Clover Award from Virginia 4-H – in recognition of his decades-long support for youth development and character education.

John Rocoovich, JD, LLM has been an integral member of the VCOM community for many years and has made numerous contributions to the University. He served on its board of visitors and served as rector for several years.
He has made a lasting impact on the research community, creating the Harvey W. Peters Research Center for Parkinson’s Disease and Central Nervous System Studies. Furthermore, he raised millions of dollars for science research at Virginia Tech and beyond; furthering his dedication as an officer of the Corps of Cadets. In 2000, he was honored with their Alumni Distinguished Service Award by the college.
