Early Life and Education
Liam McDonough earned Men’s Faceoff Player of the Week honors after winning 14 faceoffs and collecting 10 groundballs during Manhattan’s 14-9 win over Canisius last weekend. He becomes just the fifth Wildcat this season to achieve such honors.
Liam Breen will soon take the final steps toward graduating from Coastal Carolina University with his mortarboard tassel moving from right to left on graduation day. Over his four-year stay he has immersed himself in its values and embraced its mantra of ‘Feel the Teal.
He is currently studying communications in Mount Kisco, New York and plans on working at a media advertising agency after graduation. When not studying or working he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with family and friends. Travel is something else he is passionate about as well and plans on saving up funds for an upcoming trip to Asia.
Professional Career
Liam McDonough is Opinion Editor of the Searchlight and an Inductee into the National Honor Society. With a passion for helping others and training in ballroom and latin dancing at Fred Astaire studio in Mount Kisco New York. he enjoys sharing this talent.
Liam excelled as Colby’s faceoff specialist during his freshman season and led the America East with 61% faceoff percentage (184/304 wins). This success earned him recognition on both teams of All-Rookie Team as well as first-team All-Conference recognition.
Liam McDonough led his River Hawks team in both goals and points during his senior year, serving as both team goal-scorer and fourth in NESCAC scoring rankings. Furthermore, his superb offensive production included being an outstanding defender and leader in ground balls.

Last season’s 1-0 win against Merrimack came full circle when freshman attackman Isaac Bot and junior face-off midfielder Liam McDonough combined on an iconic play to give the Huskies their opening goal early in the third period. Bot threw the puck to Liam McDonough who one-timed it wide of Borgiel for an early lead.
McDonough earned America East Rookie of the Week honors after scoring Lowell’s winning goal and collecting seven points and six goals against UMBC during Lowell’s 13-12 overtime road victory.
Personal Life
Liam McDonough is a dedicated athlete, working hard towards his goals. Additionally, he’s a dedicated husband and father – with two children named Aidan and Sophia living under their roof in Katonah New York.
He enjoys reading and plays basketball regularly with his family as well as going to the beach and watching professional sports, especially the Boston Celtics which he considers his favorite team.
Liam is not only an accomplished swimmer but is also an impressive student. He was honored to join the National Honor Society and remain on the Honor Roll throughout high school. Liam recently decided to attend Davidson College to further both his academic and swimming careers; his success can be credited to family, teammates, and Fitter and Faster Swim Camps.

McDonough is a talented actor who has been making his mark in the industry for over thirty years. While working at numerous prominent theatres, his star rose when he began working on films and television. Over his long career he has garnered many accolades.
