Myles Oliver

Myles Oliver

Myles Oliver has made an immediate impact at Clemson since enrolling. A versatile cornerback who projects to start as soon as he enters the NFL.

Brent Venables of Clemson recruited him out of Georgia after seeing nine decommitments from their cornerback position last year. They needed new talent at that position in order to restock.

Early Life and Education

Oliver graduated from Douglas County High School in Georgia and signed with Clemson as a three-star cornerback, competing for an expected reserve spot on their talented defense.

Oliver studied music at the Colored Waifs Home before performing on New Orleans bandstands and later joining King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band, a live sensation and first black New Orleans ensemble to gain widespread recognition within the recording industry.

Oliver assisted Coville with his research on blueberry cultivation and hybridization, performing his own crossover work between native tree species. Some of Oliver’s progeny were later released as cultivars such as Magnolia grandiflora ‘Freeman’ and Magnolia ‘Maryland’; additionally he published a pamphlet detailing Lafayette Park plants; also credited with the introduction of hybrid varieties like Lycopersicon filipes’ “Old Smoky”.

Professional Career

Oliver has become widely beloved through his TV shows that showcase healthy and sustainable cuisine. Additionally, he has published multiple cookbooks and established a restaurant group.

Oliver missed much of his freshman season due to an injury, making his Tiger debut during Orange Bowl week and serving on their record-holding 400 freestyle relay squad. Additionally, he competed at four ACC Championship Meets as well as multiple USA Swimming Senior National Championships.

He is an adaptable secondary defender with the versatility to play both cornerback and safety positions, possessing developmental starter potential at the next level. Furthermore, his speed and coverage skills give special teams value; not to mention his impressive intelligence and natural instincts as a player.

Achievement and Honors

Oliver holds an outstanding academic record and was recently named to the dean’s list. Matriculated students who complete at least nine credits per semester with no grade lower than B are eligible for consideration for inclusion on this honorific list.

As a distance coach, he has led several individuals to All-America honors as All-American distance runners such as Jaret Carpenter and Curt Eckstein for cross country and Grant Fisher in track and field respectively. Furthermore, his men’s distance team finished in the top three three consecutive times at NCAA Championships under his guidance.

Personal Life

Myles Oliver’s life took an unimaginably tragic turn on February 28 when his wife Amy miscarried at 34.5 weeks gestation. This tragedy deeply saddened and devastated Myles.

Douglas County cornerback Myles Oliver had fallen off college coaches’ radar until recently. Once considered an unimpressive no-star prospect and only boasting one offer from Charleston Southern as of December, Myles’ phone wasn’t being ringing off the hook with offers.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney had become desperate for cornerback help after two of last season’s starters – Fred Davis and Sheridan Jones – signed for 2019 classes, leaving an opening for Oliver. Additionally, three IMG Academy defenders decommitted and freed up scholarship spots; all this allowed for Oliver’s enrollment on campus.
