The Legendary Oliver 99
At the turn of the 1950s, Oliver Super 99 set horsepower standards that few wheeled tractors could match. Sporting Fleetline styling, this massive tractor offered six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines as well as one special model featuring General Motors two-cycle diesel. Twin air stacks on its hood gave it a distinct appearance.
Early Life and Education
Oliver’s research interests lie primarily with young people’s experiences within physical education, health and youth sport contexts. His particular area of research interest includes youth participation through participative methods aimed at giving young people their voices heard. Oliver currently holds the convenor position for Early Career Research Network while serving on its Engagement Committee and Executive Council at British Educational Research Association.
Charles Dickens’ classic novel Oliver Twist follows the orphan Oliver Twist as he falls into the hands of street-urchin pickpockets led by Artful Dodger and Fagin, but after being discovered by Mr. Brownlow’s housekeepers (The Maylies), Oliver becomes their adopted son until Bill Sikes and Fagin’s gang abduct him again.
Oliver pioneered an analysis of psychological aspects of goalkeeping, becoming an inspiration to successors such as Manuel Neuer. Fearless yet aggressive, Oliver remains one of the greatest goalkeepers ever; four-time All-American and fan favorite known as “The Legend”. After graduating Rohnert Park High School he attended Hope International University before switching to Sonoma State University; going on to play professionally for Gala (Baku, Azerbaijan) and TI Sparkasse (Innstruck, Austria) before finally retiring as coach at Mt SAC.
Achievement and Honors
Oliver recently earned the prestigious 2009 Jonathan Larson Grants for Composers, Lyricists, and Book Writers from the American Theatre Wing. This honor recognizes outstanding musical talent.
Oliver is an outstanding role model who has shown how anyone can achieve if given encouragement and optimism. Through photography he records what he sees while feeling pride for recording it himself and building self-esteem.
He guided the University of Toledo volleyball program to nine victories during his debut as head coach, with nine students earning second-team All-MAC honors: Junior Zoe Birnbrich garnered this recognition, while senior Maurissa Leonard set single season and career digs records while nine others received Academic All-MAC accolades.
Oliver made history when he hit 99 home runs in one season and established himself as an everyday first baseman – driving in 83 runs in 78 games while hitting an impressive.260 average.
