A Woman and Man Face Armed Assault Charges After a Stabbing in Fall River MA

A woman and man are facing armed assault charges after a stabbing in Fall River. The victim was found with apparent stab wounds and taken to Rhode Island Hospital, while the assailant fled the scene. Police have not identified the victims or motives for the attack. Several 911 calls were received from the area.

At about 11:25 p.m. on July 31st, a 22 year-old male was sitting in a parking lot near President Avenue and North Main Street when he was approached by a woman and a man. They started an argument that escalated into a stabbing. One of the men had a serious injury, and the other was treated at the scene. According to state police, the attacker was wanted on a murder warrant in Pennsylvania. While the suspect was not identified publicly, the Fall River Police Department has been looking for the assailant, who was also wanted on a murder warrant in Pennsylvania.

Afterward, the two people fled the area in separate vehicles. Later, the owner of the Cadillac Lounge said the club had CCTV footage of the incident. He also said the security detail inside the club was on-hand. This is a vintage car business, and the owner said the club has many security cameras.

Shortly after the incident, a woman allegedly re-entered the vehicle of the driver who had been stabbed. Mendes stabbed the woman in the neck with a knife. She then fled the scene in the vehicle. When police arrived, she was being treated at Charlton Memorial Hospital. After an investigation, she was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and murder. On Wednesday night, the Fall River Police Department arrested 20 year-old Jordan Gottlieb for the murder. Gottlieb pleaded not guilty to the charge in Fall River District Court. In the meantime, the district attorney’s office is investigating the case. An unrelated warrant from New Bedford has been served on Gottlieb. His arraignment was set for Thursday in Fall River District Court. It is unknown if the woman who was allegedly involved in the stabbing was charged.

The two other people who were injured in the stabbing are expected to be released from the hospital. Authorities are trying to determine why they were targeted and what led to the stabbing. Some investigators are reviewing surveillance footage of the incident. Other investigators are still determining why the two people fled after the attack.

The Cadillac Lounge was the site of the stabbing, and the club had a police detail on hand. The Cadillac Lounge is also a vintage car business.
