Abel Tesfaye’s Starboy Merchandise
Abel Tesfaye’s merchandise is more than an album; it’s a connection with his artistry that keeps fans coming out for hours to purchase XO-inspired clothing and merchandise.
After Beauty Behind the Madness, The Weeknd seemed poised for a radical reinvention; unfortunately, Starboy is nothing but more of the same old tropes.
This collection offers long-sleeve tees and hoodies featuring illuminated crosses and textual prints, along with monochrome hats and denim jackets which keep up with current menswear trends.
Early Life and Education
Every superstar worth their salt has an exclusive line of high-end clothing to their name, such as Kanye West’s ‘Saint Pablo’ threads or Frank Ocean’s ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ shirts that sell like hotcakes. Now The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) has joined this trend with merchandise inspired by his 2016 album ‘Starboy’.
Tesfaye and Vancouver’s Roden Gray joined forces this weekend to host a pop-up store carrying the limited-edition Starboy collection. Located in Gastown, this pop-up store will offer men’s and women’s T-shirts, long sleeve tees, hoodies, jackets, denim jackets and caps – and operate during regular Roden Gray hours – from Friday through Sunday; for the first 250 customers who showed up Thursday they received wristbands featuring pieces from this limited-edition collection!
Every superstar worth their salt has their own line of high-end clothing to accompany their stardom, such as Kanye West with his Saint Pablo line; Frank Ocean with his Boys Don’t Cry apparel and Abel Tesfaye now with his “Starboy” clothing collection which features long sleeve tees, hoodies and caps for sale – the pop-up shops are being set up as part of his European tour which runs March 10-12.
Toronto fans were given their first glimpse of Abel’s new merchandise during his Starboy listening party Thursday evening in a large warehouse space and Friday’s inaugural iHeartRadio Canada Jingle Ball at the Air Canada Centre. On Sunday afternoon he set up his own pop-up shop at Rally on Ossington to meet fans and sign autographs; and also unveiled 14 piece collection which included slogan tees, sherpa jackets and patched denim pieces from this 14 piece collection.
Achievement and Honors
Within just 96 hours of its debut online release, The Weeknd’s 14-piece Starboy tour merchandise collection has quickly sold out in many places. Created through Bravado – Universal Music’s leading merchandise company – this capsule includes hats, denim jackets, T-shirts and other staples bearing his iconic Starboy logo.
This week, Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd), known by his stage name Starboy, released his fourth studio album and it debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart – earning two Grammy nominations: one for Best Urban Contemporary Album and a separate one for Love You Right as best Rap/Sung Performance.
Instead of the large crowds of teenagers and resellers that had gathered to buy The Weeknd merchandise before, this weekend saw adults and even seniors line up for his limited-edition monochrome line with its dark imagery – more typically associated with Starboy.
Are You Celebrating or Just Enjoying The Weeknd’s Album or Want a Piece of Their Style in Your Closet? This shirt from his Starboy World Tour collection is the ideal way to do both! A limited-edition shirt from this limited-run series should be added to every Weeknd fan’s closet as they mark their love of his music with style!
On this weekend at Toronto’s Alchemist store, those lined up to purchase Abel Tesfaye’s new collection were predominantly older people with deep consideration behind their purchases. It was an eerily calm atmosphere as fans found comfort in sharing a mutual appreciation of R&B singer’s music.
The Weeknd is estimated to have an estimated net worth of $92 Million. He earns most of his money through album sales and tours, as well as through merchandise sales.
Canadian musician Drake Ogilvie owns his own fashion line called XO and recently collaborated with Marvel to publish Starboy comic book. This project imagines Starboy as an actual superhero character.
Over his career, this artist has received multiple accolades and awards. His debut album Beauty Behind the Madness earned two Grammys and an American Music Award while topping Billboard 200 chart and being certified four-times platinum. Additionally, he appeared in House of Gucci movie which grossed more than $229 Million worldwide and became one of the highest grossing musical films worldwide – becoming his sixth highest earner during 2018. Additionally he released numerous hit singles as well.
