Steve serves as Regional Sales Manager for EDM and Milling at MC Machinery, covering Minnesota, western Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, North Dakota South Dakota Missouri Oklahoma Arkansas states. In this role he sells Mitsubishi EDM machines while also managing relationships with two Mitsubishi distributors and expanding his territory since joining MC Machinery.
Early Life and Education
Steve was raised with his sister Patty in San Francisco. An energetic child, Steve would often push his limits. Twice, his parents had to rush him to emergency care due to him inserting a metal pin into an electrical socket and injuring himself, and also after eating a poisonous mushroom.
He developed an early passion for electronics. His father inspired him to be meticulous, reminding him that “a craftsman applies equal care in finishing off every part of a piece of wood as is done when designing its front face”.
He attended Homestead High School and joined Hewlett-Packard’s Explorer’s Club; attending lectures about lasers, holography and light emitting diodes he saw his first computer for himself!
Professional Career
Steve is an internationally acclaimed intellectual property attorney. His experience includes handling patent litigation at both trial and appellate levels – including Markman hearings – in both domestic and international settings, helping clients build and manage strategic intellectual property portfolios domestically and internationally; also counseling on FDA marketing exclusivity strategies, effective licensing agreements and distribution agreements.
His YouTube channel led the producers of America’s Got Talent to contact him for an audition, where he reached the quarterfinals and hopes to continue entertaining audiences with his Rube Goldberg machines. His goal is to inspire others and raise awareness of mechanical engineering as a field, which would eventually translate to more engineering careers for him in future – as designing machines to perform simple tasks is an exciting and satisfying way of earning a living!
Achievement and Honors
Steve is widely respected for his mechanical engineering and design skills. At MC Machinery, where he serves as regional sales manager for EDM and milling applications, his executive department, Sales department, and Administration all enjoy having him as part of their team.
Steve enjoys creating Rube Goldberg machines – complex mechanisms which use chain reactions to perform simple tasks – as his hobby. His YouTube channel, SpriceRGMs, and appearance on AGT help to promote his passion while encouraging other engineers into the field of mechanical engineering.
He is actively engaged with the non-profit Brandywine Robotics organization and serves as a volunteer at competition robotics events, receiving the Pennsylvania State Championship Volunteer of the Year award as recognition.
Personal Life
Steve Machinery is the father of two young children. With expertise in operations, packaging and leadership roles – diving is his favorite pastime and an avid supporter of Iowa Hawkeyes!
Steve first developed an interest in electronics while attending Homestead High School, when he took an electrircs class taught by an enthusiastic teacher. Unfortunately, due to his rebellious streak and dislike of authority he eventually dropped the class due to conflicts with its rules and restrictions imposed upon him by said teacher.
Mandy and Jay met and were married in 2002; they now reside near Bradenton, Florida with two children, Kai and Amy. Jay enjoys attending his local church and traveling; an avid West Ham supporter himself, he has traveled far to watch his son compete at youth clubs around the country as a West Ham supporter himself! Additionally he volunteers his services as coach/mentor to other children.
