Early Life and Education
Steve Tonelson, born and educated in Virginia Beach, attended Maury High School before earning an AB degree at William and Mary, MAEd at Old Dominion, and PhD from Virginia. Additionally, Steve has published numerous articles and books related to teaching special needs students.
He serves as co-investigator on several projects, such as Family Life Project: Stress and Self-Regulation in Young Children; effects of poverty on parental caregiving; latent profiles of behavioral and adrenocortical stress responses in young children, among others.
Steve Towe brings over two decades of senior management experience to various fast-moving technology businesses around the globe, holding leadership roles at several of them simultaneously. He has achieved impressive revenue and profit expansion via acquisitions as well as market consolidation during his tenures as UK-based telemetry data business Masternaut Managing Director as well as Cybit, which provides high velocity fleet management subsidiary services within Trafficmaster Group.
Aptos’ CEO, Towe, oversees global operations and ushers it through to its next stage of growth. His leadership style focuses on creating an exceptional team and offering world-class products customers can rely on.
Outside of Aptos, Towe serves on the boards of PowerFleet Israel Ltd and Old World Ltd.

Steve Lynn Towe was raised on his family’s iron work business in Knoxville. A life-long welder, he enjoyed spending time at Douglas Lake and competing in Motocross races. A member of Karns High School class of 1979 and beloved member of his community. Taygan held many fond memories for Steve – as did travel – having already visited five countries by that point in life.
