Steven J Binswanger

Steven J Binswanger is an accomplished real estate professional with extensive knowledge of commercial property transactions, trends and projections in his market.

Binswanger highlights Stimmung (Gros, 2009: 19) as one of Heidegger’s preferred modes for accessing ontological understanding – alongside language, poetry, and dream analysis.

Early Life and Education

Steven has resided at 272 Brandywine Dr, West Chester PA; 255 Hudson Street Apt 9C New York NY and 616 S 18th Street Philadelphia PA. His children include Cara Lynne Whitney, Kevin Y Miyashiro and Sara Lynne Havice.

Foucault’s role in translating Binswanger remains obscure, yet his influence seems significant. In particular, he suggested to Verdeaux that she translate Binswanger’s 1930 essay ‘Traum und Existenz’ (Macey 1993:59).

Binswanger employed Stimmung (or Stimmungen in German) to refer both to the coloration and ontological significance of experience in his introduction, though in later editions this note was removed; nevertheless, this text remains essential in understanding Foucault’s usage of Heideggerian concepts.

Professional Career

He has over three decades of experience in the natural gas industry and currently holds the role of Vice President of External Affairs at Nicor Gas. In this position, he oversees regulatory policies and strategies before the Illinois Commerce Commission.

He specializes in owner representation, working for firms like Stonehenge Partners, SL Green Realty Corp and Invesco Real Estate – having completed over 7 million square feet transactions during his career.

He manages a range of prominent television personalities and was instrumental in helping Jane Clayson progress from being a Salt Lake City local news anchor to co-hosting CBS’s ‘Early Show’ since Bryant Gumbel left earlier this month. Additionally, he manages other local news anchors and reporters.

Achievement and Honors

Binswanger Management Services was honored to win a Greater Reading Chamber Alliance Building Berks Award in the Office Category in 2009. Their firm successfully redeveloped the 146,000 sq. ft. Vanity Fair Outlet Site (formerly Berkshire Knitting Mills) located in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania.

Binswanger currently sits on the boards of Demos, National Voting Rights Institute, Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement and Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement; previously serving on Telespectrum Worldwide’s Communications Officer team and AOL Time Warner’s Employee Giving and Volunteer programs following merger.

Binswanger’s translation of Viktor von Weizsacker’s text Der Gestaltkreis may not be widely known but should be (Hahn 1991). Foucault was familiar with this work and may have drawn upon its influence for his early writing (see Needleman 1963), Lanzoni 2005 and Gros 2009.

Personal Life

Binswanger has an active involvement with various charitable and civic organizations. He currently sits on the board of Free Speech for People and has held positions with several public and private groups. Furthermore, he offers an advanced course in epistemology from an Objectivist perspective.

Heidegger introduced Heidegger’s three privileged methods of accessing ontological understanding: language, poetic imagination and thought (Gros, 2009: 19). Dreams offer another form of accessing ontological understanding which Heidegger himself did not consider necessary (Gros, 2009: 19).

Steven Binswanger previously resided at 272 Brandywine Dr, West Chester, PA 19382-6701. Additionally, he resided at 220 Huntsman Ln in Blue Bell PA 19422 where he had one child. At present he lives at 255 Hudson Street APT 9C New York NY 10010 where his estimated net worth stands at $8 Million.
