Garrod provides environmental, municipal and planning law instruction to various clients across a broad range of sectors. He has published widely on these subjects and serves as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Waterloo.

Steve joined college bandmates Zach Gill and Dan Lebowitz to form Django in the early 90s. This band eventually signed with Brushfire Records and embarked on an extensive tour schedule.

Early Life and Education

Garrod was born into a late Victorian upper middle class family and expected to carry on her father, Sir Archibald Garrod, who was both a physician and physiologist. At that point, higher education for women had just started becoming available and Garrod could attend college.

She gained field experience working on local collections from Upper Paleolithic sites in England before participating in excavations of Mount Carmel caves – leading to major discoveries including human fossils – which also contributed to our understanding of early modern humans by defining Natufian culture first in Shukbah cave and then in El-Wad cave and terrace, an advanced foraging culture which may have initiated agriculture farming within the Fertile Crescent region.

Professional Career

Steven Garrod is a partner in GARROD PICKFIELD LLP of Guelph, Ontario and has been practicing law since 1980, specializing in environmental, municipal and land use planning law. A frequent presenter and instructor of legal seminars on these subjects, Steven also practices and teaches mediation and alternative dispute resolution techniques regularly.

Betten Baker Chevrolet-Buick of Cadillac reported to Michigan State Police in October that Garrod had embezzled more than $68,000 from their dealership, using bank records analysis and certified criminal analyst expertise to uncover more than 68 unauthorized checks made out to Garrod, according to MSP. Following an arrest warrant being issued against Garrod on March 13, he turned himself in at Wexford County Jail on that date and faces up to 10 years incarceration if found guilty.

Achievement and Honors

Garrod has won multiple awards for his photography and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Additionally, he has taught photography workshops for University of California-Santa Cruz Extension, Friends of Photography, Charles Farmer Workshops, Center for Photographic Art Carmel and Newport School of Photography.

Garrod was recently sentenced to 14 years of incarceration after abusing four girls over a decade, the youngest victim being only seven. A jury found him guilty of indecent assault, sexual assault and exposure.

Personal Life

Since 1980, Garrod has practiced law in Ontario specializing in environmental and municipal law. As partner at GARROD PICKFIELD LLP he provides his expertise to an impressive clientele base.

As a musician and bassist for several bands, in 2009 he joined Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers and now serves as their touring and recording bassist.

Garrod has played in jambands and with Tea Leaf Green, filling in during Winter tours and studio recordings. Additionally, he recorded with ALO for Brushfire Records albums; in addition, Garrod taught photography workshops like Ansel Adams’ Workshops at Yosemite National Park as well as UCSB Extension. Finally, he has shown in various solo and group exhibits.
