After an impressive spring training performance, Lemon made his major league debut on September 9 against the Chicago White Sox at Comiskey Park and went hitless while not making any errors.

Lemon’s success continued over the next three seasons with Detroit, and in his final campaign with them he played an essential part in their late season push towards winning an American League pennant. In the three-game ALCS win over Minnesota Twins he played center field while providing an important series-clinching catch effort in Game Three.
