Tornado Warning New Bedford
How to Deal With a Tornado Warning
In the case of a tornado warning, the most important thing to do is to get indoors. If possible, you should stay in a building with a strong foundation, preferably in a low-lying area. Alternatively, you can lie down on the ground and use your arms to protect your head. You should never try to drive through a tornado. If you are in a car, you should get out immediately and seek shelter in a nearby building.
Tornadoes are caused by powerful thunderstorms. The strongest ones often produce large hail. A tornado will usually develop from the hail-producing portion of the storm. You can spot a tornado by its rotating cloud base and approaching cloud of debris. You can also look for signs of its development by observing a dark funnel in the clouds.
