Who Was Sent Home on DWTS Tonight?
This week was a light-hearted episode of Dancing with the Stars. Two celebrity couples were at risk of elimination. There were two different dances for the night. One was an individual dance, the other was a team dance. The judges and viewers decided to save two of the four pairs that competed.
There were only six couples remaining in the competition. However, the stakes are much higher in the semi-finals. Unlike in the season’s first half, where only one winning pair could be saved, the winner this time around will get a coveted Mirrorball trophy.
Three dancers received perfect scores for their performances. Gabby Windey, Val Chmerkovskiy and Charli D’Amelio all earned their marks. Another couple received a perfect score. Those scores and viewer votes added up to the final elimination.
The other two couples who were at risk of elimination this week were Jordin Sparks and Brandon Armstrong and Shangela Durant and Gleb Savchenko. Both pairs had been at the bottom of the leaderboard for most of the season. In addition, the scores of the lower dancers counted towards their standing on the leaderboard.
DWTS has seen great pairs of choreographers throughout its 31 seasons. On this season, a couple from Coda, Daniel Durant and partner Britt Stewart, and a couple from Jersey Shore, Vinny Rodriguez and Koko Iwasaki, were both at the bottom of the leaderboard. They ended up being eliminated, along with Shangela and Gleb Savchenko.
Other celebs to be eliminated were Jason Lewis, Cheryl Burke and Louis van Amstel. All three of these celebrity pairs were in the bottom of the judge’s leaderboard. Despite receiving good scores from the judges, they did not manage to earn enough viewer votes to make it through to the next round.
Despite being one of the few celebrity pairs to receive a perfect score, it didn’t do much to help them. Judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli each gave five points to Donovan. Despite his success, however, Guadagnino is still at the bottom of the leaderboard. He was also called out for sloppy footwork by both judges.
Despite the fact that he was consistently at the bottom of the leaderboard, Daniel Durant had a strong run on the show. His dance to Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” and cha-cha were eye-catching. He also received a few extra points from Hough and a good word from Lewis.
During the finale, the judges had to make a hard decision on who to save. It was a close call. Ultimately, they chose to save Donovan. While he didn’t do a particularly good job of executing his salsa to Kid N’ Play’s “Burning Love,” the judges did notice that he improved over the past several weeks.
Overall, there are nine couples left in the competition. The competition is going to heat up even more next week when three more celebrity couples are sent home. But the results will be much more unpredictable than in the early stages of the competition.
